Intake Therapy Appointments & Support

Your Path to Personalized Therapy

You may know that you need support without knowing exactly where to begin. Intake therapy gives you a focused, low-pressure place to talk through what you are experiencing, identify your immediate needs, and explore the type of therapy or support that may be most helpful.

At 413Therapy Group, intake therapy is more than paperwork or a brief screening call. It is a dedicated clinical service designed to help you gain clarity, receive professional guidance, and determine an appropriate next step.

You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Availability: Intake appointments are available through secure online appointments for adults across Massachusetts. Limited in-person availability may also be offered through our East Longmeadow office.

Understanding Your First Session

Your initial intake appointment is a dedicated session with a licensed clinician focused on understanding what brings you to therapy and what kind of support best fits your needs.

During this session, you can discuss challenges such as anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, grief, trauma, major life changes, or past therapy experiences that didn't feel right.

Our goal is clarity, not commitment. This session gives you space to organize your thoughts, identify your priorities, and leave with a clear, informed direction for your next steps.

How to Know if an Intake Therapy Session is What You Need

An initial appointment is a practical, supportive starting point if you:

  • Are unsure where to start: You know you want support, but aren't sure which service or therapist is the right fit.

  • Feel overwhelmed by multiple concerns: You have several issues on your mind and need help organizing your thoughts.

  • Want to explore therapy first: You are considering care, but aren't ready to commit to long-term weekly sessions.

  • Seek a better fit: You've tried therapy before and want a more tailored, thoughtful approach this time.

  • Need expert guidance: You want professional direction on the best next steps for your mental health.

You don't need a formal diagnosis or a crystal-clear goal before scheduling. A key purpose of your initial session is simply helping you put your experiences into words.

What to Expect During Your Intake Appointment

During your initial appointment, your clinician will listen to your story and explore what brings you to therapy. Together, you will talk through your current challenges, personal history, goals, and scheduling preferences.

This initial session helps you:

  • Organize and prioritize concerns that feel overwhelming

  • Clarify whether individual or couples therapy is appropriate

  • Identify what you are looking for in a therapist and treatment approach

  • Determine whether to begin ongoing therapy or explore other care options

You’ll have dedicated space to ask questions, share concerns about therapy, and evaluate what support feels best for you.

Begin Your Counseling Journey with Genuine Connection

An intake appointment is far more than a routine check-in or screening call. It is a dedicated therapeutic session tailored entirely to you.

Your clinician will listen to your story, help organize feelings that may currently feel overwhelming, and provide expert guidance on the type of support that fits your lifestyle.

Rather than just completing forms, you spend this session engaging in a thoughtful, collaborative conversation about your health and well-being.

Individual and Couples Intake Appointments

413Therapy Group offers intake & initial therapy appointments for both individuals and couples, depending on availability and the type of support you are seeking.

Individual Therapy Intake

Individual intake therapy focuses on your personal experiences, concerns, goals, and preferences.

It may be appropriate when you are seeking help with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, or personal growth.

Your clinician can help you clarify what you would like to address and what type of therapeutic support may fit your needs.

Couples Therapy Intake

Couples intake therapy gives both partners an opportunity to discuss the concerns affecting their relationship and what they hope will change.

The clinician can help identify shared goals, explore recurring communication or conflict patterns, and determine whether couples counseling may be an appropriate next step.

Exploring Your Ongoing Therapy Options

An initial intake therapy appointment is designed to give you clarity, not lock you into a commitment. Following your session, your next steps might include:

  • Starting ongoing therapy with a clinician at 413Therapy Group

  • Finding the right match by having us connect you with a clinician whose specialty and schedule fit your specific needs

  • Exploring your format options, such as choosing between individual or couples appointments

  • Taking time to process the recommendations and options discussed before making a decision

  • Connecting to higher levels of care or specialized external resources if needed

Our priority is helping you make an informed decision about your care at your own pace—never rushing you into treatment that doesn't feel right.
